Five minutes. FIfty dollars. Five photos.

My idea for Five-Fifty-Five Sessions came about after having a number of similar conversations that pertained some or all of following: news these days is bleaker than ever; AI makes it hard to know what’s even real; and no one goes out anymore because of inflation and the economy, which only serves to amplify the sense of isolation from others.

One positive thing that these conversations had in common which was that making art has been central to coping with these hard times, and that whenever our attention and energy is focused on the act of creating, the darkness begins to recede.

In an attempt to address all of these issues I’ve decided to offer affordable (and possibly even therapeutic) portrait sessions in my new studio. Subjects can book a five-minute photo shoot with me for just $50 and in return receive five edited, high resolution files to use how they please. I imagine these sessions to be a regular event, with the theme/ technique/ aesthetic changing each time.

Here are the details:

• The theme of the first Five-Fifty-Five event is “The Dark Days of Winter”, and the photos will look similar to the examples in this gallery.

• Only one subject is permitted in a 5-minute session. If you want to have someone else in the photos with you, you will each need to book a session and arrive together.

• Within a week of the shoot you will receive a Dropbox link to five edited, high resolution files, which you can print or share digitally.

• You don’t need to schedule your shoot time. Just show up during one of the allotted windows of time listed below.

• The location is my studio, in central Columbus. Address will be provided upon booking.
